Evansville Youth Soccer League Parent’s Information
Players, Coaches, and Teams
Players are accepted on a first entry received, first placed basis. EYSL has on-site, and online registration options.
Coaches are volunteers; EYSL will accept as many players in an age division as the number of volunteer coaches make possible.
Teams will vary in size due to number of “age-appropriate” players. The number of players playing at once will also vary and will be appropriate to their age. Players are assigned to teams in a random method; no particular team placement in guaranteed.
Player Equipment and Safety
Players will be issued a team shirt and socks. Players should wear their shirt to all games/scrimmages. Players are responsible for providing shin guards and shoes. Shin guards are required at all practices and games/scrimmages. Shoes shall be soccer cleats (molded bottoms) or “tennis shoes”.
Suitable shorts or pants of any color may be worn for practices or games.
Jewelry and hair accessories (hard plastic) are not permissible for safety reasons. Earrings must be removed prior to play or covered with tape.
NO CASTS OR SPLINTS unless approved by the League Committee.
Scrimmages and Games
U6 teams can be at the fields 2 days per week. This includes practices and scrimmages with no formal scoring being kept. Participation medals are given to all players in U6 and U9 divisions.
U9 – U14 teams can be at the fields 3 days per week. Sometimes this includes 2 games depending on scheduling.
All coaches pick their practice day.
1st and 2nd place awards are given in U11 – U14 divisions with more than 3 teams. Otherwise, only 1st place will receive awards.
Parents and Referees
Parents are always expected to exhibit proper behavior. No excessive disruptive yelling or displays of poor sportsmanship shall be tolerated.
We train referees, as we also train players. They’re learning their role, too. Referees will do their best. If you have a referee complaint, ask your coach for the League Committee’s contact information. DO NOT YELL AT THE REFEREES. Parents caught yelling at coaches, players, or referees will be asked to leave the fields.
Weather and Safety
EYSL rarely cancels activities for wet field conditions or light rain. Lightning shall cancel all activities. Call your coach if you’re in doubt.
Parents MUST WATCH ALL “LITTLE BROTHERS/SISTERS” CLOSELY.
No alcohol at the park.
DO NOT BRING DOGS to the field during soccer activities.
Parking
The parking lot is the single most dangerous area at EYSL.
1. DRIVE SLOWLY AND USE THE PROPER ENTRANCE AND EXIT.
2. KEEP LOOKOUT FOR PEOPLE ENTERING THE PARKING LOT.
3. DO NOT WALK IN THE PARKING LOT. WALK IN THE GRASS.
4. ALWAYS LOOK BEHIND YOUR CAR BEFORE BACKING OUT.
ONCE THE PARKING LOT IS FULL, IT IS FULL!
SAFETY MUST BE YOUR FIRST CONSIDERATION, NOT A CONVENIENCE.
OVER-FLOW PARKING MUST PARK ON THE STREETS ACROSS VANN AVE, AT THE BASEBALL FIELDS TO THE NORTH, OR AT THE STATE HOSPITAL SOFTBALL PARKING LOT.
PLEASE, DO NOT CREATE UNSAFE CONDITIONS JUST FOR A CONVENIENT PARKING LOCALE.
